January 2021 Release

Software Update: Granta MI 12

GRANTA MI 12 accelerates the process to “digitalize” the materials information, in order to reduce risk, drive innovation, and save time and cost. There are new features for deploying materials knowledge enterprise-wide, while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and complete traceability. There are enhanced tools for visualization and analysis of test data, managing product risk, and ensuring robust data management workflows. One can combine proprietary materials data with the most comprehensive available set of materials reference data, now updated, to create a single 'gold source'

September 2015 Release

Reaffirmed and updated all content (392 data sheets) sourced from the ASM publication, Engineering Properties of Steel, 1982.

February 2015 Release

Updated Granta MI Software

With this release, the software platform has been upgraded to GRANTA MI Version 7. In addition to general performance and usability improvements, the latest version of the software includes:

Improvements to Charts

  • All functional data charts in MI:Viewer now support zooming and interactive data read-outs. Moving the mouse over the chart will read out the values of the co-ordinate axes at the mouse position. Left clicking and dragging will zoom the chart; the Reset Zoom button below the chart will restore the chart to its original view.
  • The ability to compare functional data charts across the database has been introduced on this version of Granta MI. All datasheet charts now feature a Comparison Chart button which allows the chart to be added to the Comparison Chart if it is compatible.

Performance Improvements

  • The ability to compare functional data charts across the database has been introduced on this version of Granta MI. All datasheet charts now feature a Comparison Chart button which allows the chart to be added to the Comparison Chart if it is compatible.
  • Improved speed of attribute selection for X-Y charts when working with a large number of records.
  • Improved performance of generating a comparison report.

Usability Improvements

  • Usability improvement to filtering records in comparison table reports means that selecting and deselecting attributes now works in a more intuitive manner.
  • A new Refine Search button has been added to the toolbar at the top of the Search Results page which works in the same way as Refine in the Search Criteria panel, returning you back to the search page so that you can change your search criteria.

What's in this database?

The ASM Alloy Center Database™ Materials Property Data provides detailed property data for nearly 7,000 ferrous and nonferrous alloys.

Use Materials Property Data to:

  • Find extrusions that have a tensile strength greater than 60 ksi.
  • Graph the tensile strength against temperature for a particular alloy
  • See the effect of time at temperature by changing the graph's x-axis
  • Adjust parameters to view the tensile strength at high temperatures
  • Extract a property value by interpolation
  • Identify similar specifications and UNS numbers
  • Review notes regarding methods used to gather data
