n 1969, ASM established the Fellow of the Society honor
to provide recognition to members for their distin-
guished contributions to materials science and engi-
neering and to develop a broadly based forum of technical
and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Soci-
ety. Following are the members recognized by their col-
leagues for 2015. Additional Fellows may be elected to
this distinguished body in subsequent years. The solicited
guidance, which the Fellows provide, will enhance the
capability of ASM as a technical community of materials
science and engineering professionals in the years ahead.
Awards will be presented at ASM’s annual Awards Dinner,
Tuesday, October 6, in Columbus, Ohio, during Materials
Science & Technology 2015.
Prof. Sean R. Agnew, FASM

For exemplary research and student-
centered education focused on fundamental
aspects of plastic deformation in ultra-light
non-cubic alloys, including dislocation slip and twinning, and
their relationships to fatigue and deformation processing.
Prof. Pranesh B. Aswath, FASM

For significant contributions to the sci-
ence of tribology through establishing funda-
mental relationships between lubricant additive chemistry,
tribofilm formation, and friction and wear.
Mr. Victor K. Champagne, FASM

U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen, Md.
For serving as the international cham-
pion of cold spray technology through exem-
plary research, development, qualification,
and persistent dedication toward transition and implemen-
tation throughout all sectors of industry and the Depart-
ment of Defense.

thesis, processing, phase equilibria, defect structure, and

For significant contributions in metal-
lurgy, hard materials, tribology, and wear con-
trol to solve complex industrial equipment and

For significant contributions in devel-
oping relationships between processing and
microstructural control in crystalline materi-
als, leading to materials design methodologies that address
texture in a range of materials systems.

For outstanding technical contributions
and research management in materials mea-
surement, applications, and manufacturing
with significant contributions to light alloy metallurgy, qua-
sicrystals, high temperature superconductivity, solder sci-
ence, and structural integrity.
